sunrise in stuttgart

It's a bit heavy on cloud cover but I am up before el Sol. Weather may give us a bit of everything today and I have this weensy bit of guilt about going out and scrawling the day away when there's a long to-do list glaring at me from my studio-board. I just took a moment to look at one of my books, recently re-discovered as I organized my bookshelves last week and found the perfect quote from Frederick Franck in The Zen of Seeing.

Don't talk, just sit and relax.  Now, let your eyes fall on whatever happens to be in front of you. It may be a plant or a bush...close your eyes for the next five minutes...Now, open your eyes and focus on whatever you observed before...Look it in the eye, until you feel it looking back at you. Feel that you are alone with it on Earth! That is the most important thing in the universe, it contains all the riddles of life and death. It does! You are no longer looking, you are seeing...

  1. I'm so excited about my first Scawl Crawl! It is 22:18 here in Philadelphia, MS. The sun will rise at 5:49. I'm off to bed now. Will inspiration come from my dreams? My pad and favorite pen are beside the wrought-iron bed in the guest room of my momma's house...the bedroom of my teen years.

  2. Remember how I told you that you remind me of two of my friends? Lisa who you just met and also my friend Sindy. She told me once of a little girl she pushed on the swing and the girl looked so HAPPY that she stopped the swing and asked her "What are you thinking?" The girl (3 or 4 yrs old) said, "I'm not thinking...I'm just..."-then at a loss for words said-"being" PERFECT!
I hope you day was full of inspiration!
